DUA LIPA TRIUMPHS IN 'LEVITATING' COPYRIGHT BATTLE - CATCH THE BUZZ!
British pop star Dua Lipa and Warner Records emerged victorious on Monday as a lawsuit filed by a reggae group from Florida, alleging that Lipa's chart-topping track "Levitating" copied one of their songs, was dismissed by a federal court in Los Angeles.

Judge Sunshine Sykes dismissed Artikal Sound System's claim against Dua Lipa's "Levitating" for lack of evidence regarding access to their song "Live Your Life." The band has been granted a chance to file a revised complaint. Additionally, the judge denied their request to combine the case with another lawsuit in New York involving songwriters Sandy Linzer and L. Russell Brown, who allege similarities between "Levitating" and their disco tracks "Wiggle and Giggle All Night" and "Don Diablo."

Following the ruling, Artikal Sound System's attorney, Stewart Levy, expressed disappointment and stated that the band is currently evaluating its options. As for Dua Lipa, her representatives have yet to provide a comment in response to the decision.

It's worth noting that "Levitating" achieved remarkable success on the Billboard Hot 100 U.S. singles chart, spending a total of 77 weeks and reaching a peak position of No. 2 in 2021.
