Kelly Clarkson has made the decision to relocate The Kelly Clarkson Show from Los Angeles to New York City to be closer to her family. In a conversation with Nancy O'Dell for TalkShopLive, Kelly shared that she had informed her staff in January about the move and the reasons behind it.

Citing the impact of COVID and the importance of being near her family, who are based in North Carolina, Kelly explained that the isolation and distance in Los Angeles were not beneficial for anyone. She also mentioned personal matters that contributed to her decision.

Kelly expressed that her two children were in need of a fresh start, which she felt she couldn't provide in Los Angeles due to various challenges. Emphasizing that the move was entirely her idea, she praised NBC executives for supporting her and allowing the show to be relocated to New York City.

While family was the primary motivation for the move, Kelly hinted at her interest in Broadway and expressed a desire to explore opportunities related to it.

NBC confirmed in May that The Kelly Clarkson Show will make the move in the fall and be filmed in its new Rockefeller Center studio.
