Billie Eilish is set to perform at a significant global climate event taking place in Paris. The event, titled 'Power Our Planet: Live In Paris,' is organized by Global Citizen and aims to inspire world leaders and the private sector to take action against the climate crisis. Alongside Billie, notable artists such as Lenny Kravitz, H.E.R., and Jon Batiste will also be participating in this free, ticketed event.
Expressing his concern, Lenny stated, "The next generation is inheriting a planet that's being devastated by climate change. We have the power to change things with our voices and actions. Join me on June 22, from anywhere you are, and take action today to save tomorrow."
Adding to the lineup, Billie's brother FINNEAS, Ben Harper, and Mosimann have been announced as special guests for the event, which is being held on June 22. Under the patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron, the event aims to gather global leaders attending the New Financial Pact Summit.
The Power Our Planet campaign, co-chaired by Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados, is advocating for a significant transformation in the functioning of the world's financial systems. The goal is to ensure that poor and developing nations receive the necessary financing to accelerate their transition to clean energy, enhance their resilience against natural disasters, and address their most pressing needs.
This initiative involves urging governments, banks, and major corporations to fulfill their existing commitments while also mobilizing funds and making up to $1 trillion in financing accessible to countries in need. Furthermore, the campaign emphasizes the importance of transitioning to clean energy.
President Macron emphasized the need for global solidarity, stating, "We need a world with more solidarity. Crises are multiplying, and the number of people who place their hope in peace and multilateralism will only increase if we, as a global community, demonstrate our commitment to helping the most vulnerable. Inequality and poverty are the root causes of today's and tomorrow's conflicts. Without fighting for more justice and equity, there can be no worldwide climate transition. We are halfway to achieving the sustainable development goals, and we need a new financial pact among all nations to create a more united world for the future."
