HARRISON FORD TALKS ABOUT AI-DE-AGING TECHNOLOGY IN THE DIAL OF DESTINY.

Harrison Ford shared his thoughts on the de-aging technology used in the opening scenes of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the fifth installment of the beloved movie franchise, during a press conference at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

Reflecting on the advancements in technology, Harrison expressed that the de-aging process now appears remarkably realistic, giving him a youthful appearance. He emphasized that it wasn't just a result of Photoshop manipulation but a meticulous utilization of Lucasfilm's extensive library of footage from their collaborations over the years. He remarked, "That's what I looked like 35 years ago because Lucasfilm has every frame of film that we've made together."

However, Harrison emphasized that the effectiveness of the de-aging technique relies on more than just visual trickery. It needs to be supported by a compelling story and emotional authenticity. He praised the filmmakers for skillfully integrating the technology into the narrative, ensuring that it didn't feel out of place. He stated, "It's just a trick unless it's supported by a story and it sticks out like a sore thumb if it's not honest, it's not real... I mean, emotionally real. And so I think it was used very skillfully."

While Harrison admitted to being "very happy" with the end result, he doesn't yearn to return to his younger self. He expressed contentment with his age and the wisdom that comes with it, remarking, "I love being older. It was great to be young, but sh-tfire I could be dead, but I'm still working."

Harrison Ford's remarks at the press conference showcased his appreciation for the technical achievements of the de-aging process while also emphasizing the importance of emotional authenticity and storytelling in making it a seamless and effective part of the film.
