Taylor Lautner, the Twilight heartthrob, is sharing his thoughts on the upcoming re-release of his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift's Speak Now album, and he's taking it all in stride. In an interview with Today.com, Lautner playfully commented on the album, which originally featured a song about their past relationship.
"I think it's a great album. Yeah, I feel safe," Lautner quipped to the outlet, while cheekily adding, "praying for John (Mayer)."
Set to be released on July 7, Speak Now (Taylor's Version) will bring back the beloved album from 2010, a time that coincided with Lautner and Swift's brief romance in 2009. The album included the notable song "Back to December," which was reportedly inspired by their relationship, as well as "Dear John," a track believed to be about her subsequent relationship with John Mayer.
Swift and Mayer had a romantic involvement in 2009 and 2010 when she was 19 and he was 32. Mayer, in an interview with Rolling Stone in 2012, expressed his opinion on the song "Dear John," stating, "I will say as a songwriter that I think it's kind of cheap songwriting. I know she's the biggest thing in the world, and I'm not trying to sink anybody's ship, but I think it's abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, 'Wait till he gets a load of this!' That's bulls**t."
Despite the playful banter and past relationship drama, it's clear that Lautner is taking it all in good spirits and supporting Swift's musical journey. As the re-release of Speak Now approaches, fans eagerly await the new rendition of this iconic album that captured a significant chapter in Swift's life.
