ABBOTT ELEMENTARY: THE COMFORT SHOW YOU DIDN'T KNOW YOU NEEDED.

We all have a love hate relationship with our school. More hate during school but mostly love after you leave.

Well if you miss your school days and all the antics you got to be a part of, then let Abbott and their fine scholastic team be the show you whinedown to and let it take you back to the good old days.

The hilarious mockumentary set in a US Elementary school is a comedy gem that's packed with lightning-fast jokes, impeccable timing, and flawless acting that will leave you charmed.

Created by comedian Quinta Brunson, whose mother taught at the same school for four decades, the series follows the adventures of young and optimistic teacher Janine Teagues, played by Brunson herself. Janine tirelessly navigates the challenges of an underfunded primary school in west Philadelphia. From cleaning up vomit to fundraising for school supplies, Janine's enthusiasm and determination shine through. Despite her goodness, she remains endearing, avoiding any hint of smugness.

Janine aspires to be like her colleague Barbara Howard, a seasoned teacher portrayed with regal magnificence by Broadway star Sheryl Lee Ralph. Barbara, however, has a touch of misanthropy. The tension between idealism and compromise in a flawed system drives the show, infusing it with sharpness and depth.

Joining the ensemble in the teachers' lounge are second-year teacher Jacob, the ever-determined "white ally" played by Chris Perfetti, and substitute teacher Gregory, who becomes a slow-burn love interest for Janine, portrayed by Tyler James Williams. The cast is completed by principal Ava Coleman, portrayed by Janelle James, a self-obsessed and charismatic leader who occasionally graces the staff with her presence.

While the show's plots revolve around the teachers' struggles to address the school's supply shortages, it never loses momentum. The characters are flawlessly portrayed, and the comedic timing is impeccable. The rapid-fire jokes will leave you breathless, reminiscent of beloved comedies like Parks and Recreation, Modern Family, and Ted Lasso. Abbott Elementary stands on its own as a hilarious and charming series, despite its underlying theme of real-life deprivation.

So get ready to laugh out loud as Abbott Elementary takes you on a rollercoaster of comedy, reminding you that humor is sometimes the best way to tackle life's challenges, even in the face of adversity.
