The world premiere of "The Little Mermaid" made a splash on Monday night (May 8), and the reviews are in!

Critics and press were lucky enough to catch an early viewing of the live-action adaptation, and they're absolutely hooked!

Featuring the talented Halle Bailey as the spirited and adventurous Ariel, the film brings this enchanting tale to life. Ariel, the youngest and most rebellious daughter of King Triton (played by the fabulous Javier Bardem), dreams of exploring the world beyond the sea. During a trip to the surface, she falls head over fins for the charming Prince Eric, played by the swoon-worthy Jonah Hauer-King. Of course, mermaids aren't supposed to mingle with humans, so Ariel must navigate the consequences of following her heart. Enter the mischievous sea witch Ursula, brought to life by the hilarious Melissa McCarthy, adding a touch of villainy and excitement.
