THE ROYAL CORONATION OF CHARLES III. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW.

The United Kingdom now has an officially King as the head of the Church of England!

Here is everything you need to know about King Charles III’s coronation.

Exactly 8 months after the passing of his mother, Elizabeth II The Queen of England, plans were ready to be put into motion for the official coronation of her son; the longest serving Crowned Prince in history with an outstanding 64 years: King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Not only is Charles the title holder as the longest serving heir-apparent, he is now the oldest monarch to be crowned as King at age 74 years.

For those of you who might not be familiar with traditions of a monarchy, the word “coronation” is derived from the Latin word “corona” which means “crown”. But it’s so much more than literally placing the crown on the sovereign’s head. It’s a symbolic coming together of the monarchy, church and state for a religious ritual during which the monarch makes vows to both God and country.

Buckingham Palace has said it “will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.”

The coronation service took place at Westminster Abbey with a 2-hour long Anglican service followed by “representation from other faiths to reflect the diversity of modern Britain,”.

Now onto the actual drama!

William the now the serving crowed Prince and his wife Princess Katherine and their three children were in attendance. Prince Harry after much commotion was also in attendance for their father’s big day but chose not to sit with the rest of his family and instead opted to sit alone. His wife Meghan Markel who was not to attend was said to have been their lurking in the shadows but no photo proof has been released yet. The couple who resides in Los Angele with their two children put up quite the fight with attending the big day with many conditions and rules, which were ultimately not met. Harry is said to be leaving England the very next day back home to celebrate his son Prince Archie’s fourth birthday, which has also been met with quite the backlash.

No coronation is complete without delightful performances! Well they struggled there too..

Most artists who were asked to perform at the King’s coronation straight out refused to, that includes artists such as Sir Elton John, Adele, The Spice Girls, Harry Styles, Robbie Williams. So the royals had no option but to search across the pond. Luckily most Americans are unaware of UK’s monarchial history.

So who performed at the coronation?

Katy Perry. Lionel Richie. Andrea Bocelli. Alexis Ffrench. And 90s British Boyband Take That (minus Robbie obviously).
