Nashville - Well well look how the tables have turned!
If you were to ask us to predict 3 things that were gonna happen in 2023, we were more likely to say “an apocalypse, full blow The Last Of Us style” than say “Taylor Swift & Matty Healy dating”.
But hey we never advertised to be soothsayers!
Taylor Swift fresh out of her 6 year relationship Joe Alwyn was bound to look for a rebound, but what no one expected that rebound to be The 1975’s front-man and chaos bringer Matty Healy.
Their relationship was confirmed late last week and it’s only been going downhill since. While the relationship itself seems to be smooth sailing in it’s early stages, with Matty planning on flying to Tennessee to show support to his girlfriend during her Nashville leg of the Eras Tour, the details around the relationship is what’s really sending people into spirals.
For one a source has confirmed that the two actually dated for a very short while over a decade ago but things just didn’t work out for the two and they decided to go their own way.
Now there’s a whole new story trekking back to 2016 and an interview Matty did during the beginnings of The 1975 where he talks about his prospective of dating Taylor Swift one day, many fans have been left a little disgruntled after the video resurfaced as they seem to think it not only belittled Taylor as a woman but it also stands as a testimony of Healy’s aloof morals.
Turns out they met on a random Tuesday (not literally Tuesday) and they exchanged numbers and spoke here & there, but things never went past the awkward stage.
Apparently the pap who were on Taylor’s tail thought differently and had photographed the exchanged and blew it up on the internet. In response to that Matty Healy told Q Magazine that the only reason for the story to even make it to the front pages is because it’s Taylor Swift “It’s just interesting to me how interested the world is about Taylor Swift.” He stated.
Matty then goes on to clarify that the reason he wouldn’t date Taylor Swift is because he’s got a fear of losing himself in relationships. He added this to his statement “And the reason I mention that is because if I had [properly] gone out with Taylor Swift the first thing I would’ve [thought was] ‘F–king hell I am NOT being Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.’ You know, F–K. THAT…”
he then tries to justify what he said by further adding “That’s also a man thing, a de-masculinating, emasculating thing.”
Healy was called out by Swifties soon after the event and he did apologize with a string on tweets.
“Now I may admit to being an idiot on occasion, but I am not a misogynist. This suggestion makes me really sad. I was for a very short time immersed in a celebrity world that I found confusing and scary. At that time, I had fears of being ‘somebody’s boyfriend” being one of them.
Well well look how the tables have turned!
