It’s a tragic day in Kpop as we have to say goodbye to Astro’s main dancer & lead vocalist Moonbin.

MoonBin born in Cheonju-Si South Korea, was found unresponsive at his Gangnam apartment on the evening of 19^th April by his manager. He reports that he was unable to get in touch with the 25-year-old and decided to check up on him at his home where he was found.

Astro’s management Fantagio confirmed the news by tweeting “(MoonBin) suddenly left us and became a star in the sky. ASTRO members, fellow Fantagio artists, company executives, and employees are mourning the deceased in great sadness and shock, (MoonBin) always loved and thought of the fans more than anyone else.”

Funeral plans have not been disclosed as it’s been decided it will be held as privately as possible away from the spotlight where close friends and family of MoonBin can grieve in private.

MoonBin joins the ever-growing list of Korean artists & actors who have passed away at a young age. Many being the result of suicide. Earlier this year actress Jung Chae-Yull was found dead at her home. In 2019 best friends Sulli & Goo Hara were found dead weeks apart from each others. Sulli who was a member of f(x) was a victim online bullying which lead to her taking her own life. Goo Hara a member of Kara was found dead at her home just a month and 10 days later. Younger brother of ha Ji Won: Jun Tae Soo was reported dead back in 2018 as a result of suicide. Member of boyband 100% Seo Min-Woo was found dead in march 2018. Most notably lead vocalist of SM Entertainment’s SHINee Kim JongHyun was found dead in a hotel room after Carbon Monixide poisoning. All of these celebrities were under the age of 30 except Seo Min-Woo & jun Tae Soo who were both 33 at the time of their death.

Suicide is the number one cause of death among young people in South Korea.
