We’re about to take a real trip down nostalgia avenue cause Shrek 5 has just been confirmed as a BIG POSSIBILITY!! AND THAT’S WITH THE ORIGINAL VOICE CAST! DO YOU SEE WHY WE’RE EXCITED?!!?

Chris Meledandri the CEO and founder of Illuminations the production giant behind DreamWorks’s lovable green ogre franchise sat down for a little chat recently and spoke about the actual potential of Shrek getting a 5^th installment.

He spoke about trying to get the OG voices behind Shrek’s magic back together: Mike Meyers, Cameron Diaz & Eddie Murphy.

“You look at what the core elements are that audiences have loved, and you do your very best to honor those core elements,” he continued with  “And then you’re hard at work to build story elements and new characters that take you to brand new places. The original cast is a huge part of that.”

It gets better, earlier this year Eddie Murphy made the statement that he’d be the voice of Donkey again in an instant. “I’d absolutely be open if they ever came with another Shrek, I’d do it in two seconds. I love Donkey,” he said. He also touched on how he’s always wanted a Donkey standalone the way Puss in Boots got one (or well 3) “You know, they did Puss in Boots [movies]… They should have did a Donkey movie. Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots,” he said. “I love Puss in Boots, but he isn’t funnier than Donkey.”
