Get in losers where’s going to the movies!
It’s exciting news for an extire generation of girlies as the It Girls we grew up watching are making their way back to the big screen!! But this time it’s even better because there’s music and dance!
I’m talking about none other than MEAN GIRLS! Remember the Jingle Bell Rock scene? Picture that but 30x better!!
The movie will adapt Tina’s Fey’s original written-for-Broadway script from 2017 and will of course follow the 2004 smash hit movie as well. The beloved foursome will be played by a set of fresh faces, Angourie Rice will portray the protagonist Cady Heron originally played by Lindsay Lohan, Renee Rapp will strut her stuff as Regina George who was first played by Rachel McAdams, giving the term “dumb blonde” a whole new meaning we’ve got one of our very own brown girlies Avantika Vandanapu playing Karen Smith originally played by everyone’s favorite blonde Amanda Seyfried and trying to make fetch happen once again is Bebe Wood as Gretchen Wieners taking over for Lacey Chabert. Playing double trouble best friends Janis & Damian are Auli?i Cravalho & Jaquel Spivey originally portrayed by Lizzy Caplan & Daniel Franzese and taking the crown is Christopher Briney as heartthrob Aaron Samuels who was first made famous by Jonathan Bennett.
While we aren’t getting our OG girls back there is a teeny tiny chance Rachel McAdams might make a cameo in the musical movie adaptation! In a recent interview she spoke about how proud she is of everyone involved in the new production and how proud she is of herself and her castmates for having created a pivotal moment in popculture! She also said that she’s considering making an appearance in the new movies saying she’d never say no to Tina Fey “ever”.
Without spilling too many beans she went on to say “She’s the greatest. So, we’ll see how it all shakes out,”.
Filming for Mean Girls the Musical Movie started March 2023 under Paramount+ and is set to see the bgi screen sometime end of next year or the beginning of 2025.
