Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd has many trophiess and titles and records to his name Just last year he was named the highest streamed Artist on Spotify.

It looks like this year might be even better than last year for the 33 year old from Toronto, Canada as he was officially named The World’s Most Popular Artist by non-other than The Guinness Book of World Records!


In a press release published on Monday, the Guinness World Records announced that they had awarded The Weeknd the title of the most popular artist in the world. The Weeknd has set the Guinness World Record for becoming the first, and so far only, artist to reach 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify. He also holds the record for the most monthly listeners, with 111.4 million as of 20 March 2023.

He also saw a surge of in numbers after the rerelease of ‘Die For You’ which he remade with Ariana Grande this year. The remake shot to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, while the original single which was released in 2016.
