Fame comes with a fixed price, the more fame you get that fixture but only increases.
And Bad Bunny is learning this first hand.
The Puerto Rican singer is currently finding himself in the middle of quite the drama, for one he’s been linked to Supermodel and Reality TV star Kendall Jenner. The two were seen hanging out in LA and were even spotted sharing a kiss at a friend’s after party.
Well as it turns out Bunny’s got a bit more than a smooch to worry about, $40Million worth of worries. Charliz De La Cruz Hernandez, the ex-girlfriend of the 29-year-old singer is suing the Dakiti’ singer for using her voice in 2 of his songs. Hernandez’s voice can be heard in Bunny’s 2016 song “Pa Ti” and in his recent single “Dos Mil 16” saying the phrase “Bad Bunny, Baby”.
This has created quite the stir in Hernandez’s life as people will refer to the line when ever they catch her in public. “Thousands of people have commented directly on Carliz’s social media networks, as well as every time she goes to a public place, about ‘Bad Bunny, baby.’ This has caused, and currently causes, De La Cruz to feel worried, anguished, intimidated, overwhelmed and anxious.”
As it turns out her voice was used without her permission and was only offer $2000 for the recording & rights of the voice cut, which she later refused. The couple dated back in 2011 and called it quits in 2017 and it’s reported that Hernandez made it very clear that her voice was not to be used in any of his works.
A translated copy of the lawsuit against the singer was published online, an excerpt of it reads:
“Since De La Cruz made it clear that she did not consent to its use, its publication constituted an act of gross negligence, bad faith, and, worse still, an attack on their privacy, morals, and dignity since all parties had and still have knowledge of these facts and even so decided to be reckless and break the law,” the lawsuit states. “Likewise, the publication of the song ‘Dos Mil 16’ without the consent of Carliz was carried out intentionally, in bad faith and for profit.”
