We are in our Pedro Pascal Era, and we’re here for it.
The Last Of Us, the ONLY THING on EVERYONE’s mind. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a gamer or not we’re here for the Internet’s Daddy and his adopted cargo.. umm Daughter.
A quick over view of the show: Based off of the viral video game by Naughty Dog about a fugal virus that’s paralyzed the world, the story follows Joel Miller (Pascal) as he escorts Ellie (Bella Ramsey) to the Fireflies across a post-apocalyptic America, as they try to avoid the infected, certain death (and the shredding of their bodies into chunks and pieces). The Fireflies (a resistance movement fighting for liberation from the military) assure the two that they’ve got the technology to cure the fungal virus as long as they can get their hands on Ellie (who is immune) for testing.
**spoilers**
The End of Season 1 shows Joel kidnapping Ellie, saving her from certain death at the hands the Fireflies just in time, before they dissect her brain to take samples of Cordyceps to eventually end the pandemic.
On the drive back to Tommy’s commune Ellie wakes up and questions Joel about why she isn’t with the Fireflies anymore and Joel lies saying they didn’t have an antidote and they were tricking her. Ellie trusting Joel with her life believes him without a seconds thought.
The show leaves the actually closing open for interpretations to make way for season two, which will begin filming sometime this Summer.
*end of spoilers*
It is agreeable by everyone that the ending tire everyone’s hearts into pieces so perhaps it was best that the producer didn’t actually go with the original ending that they planned. The show is a frame-to-frame adaptation of the game so while there wasn’t exactly much room for change, Craig Mazin & Niel Druckmann the producers of the show did originally plan on making the ending evern more sadder!
They wanted to drag the ending a little longer "(we) had this thought of just playing out this slightly longer, sadder version where Ellie says, 'okay,' and then she turns and walks away. And Joel looks after her," Mazin told GQ of the team's alternate plans.
He said they weren’t exactly sure how to pan out the ending, did want to stick to the game or did they want to go a different route? Will the fans be disappointed they got the play-by-play ending they already knew or would they be disappointed by not getting the play-by –play.
Ultimately they chose to go with the second option of having Ellie question Joel and ending up believing in him.
*And the screen goes black*
