Ah Miss Wednesday Addams, this young lady danced into our hearts one creepy move at a time.
But turns out she didn’t exactly grab Jenna Ortega’s heart in one go!
20-year-old Ortega who plays the TV version of Wednesday from the hit movie franchise The Addams Family wasn’t exactly on board with playing the death-obsessed character in the beginning. She said in an interview recently that she was afraid of taking on the role thinking it would stop her from pursuing bigger roles in movies. She says after spending a lot of time on tv and television shows she was ready for blockbuster movies and just didn’t want to do another tv show.
“I had done so much TV in my life,” she explained. “When I first started acting, I don’t want to say nobody believed in me, but at the same time, nobody believed in me. You have to prove yourself. It’s only in the last three or four years that I’ve been able to start going up for film. I was scared that by signing on to another television show it could prevent me from doing other jobs I really wanted and cared about.”
But ultimately it was the man behind the camera that got her to comeback and take on the beloved role.
In her defense we’d all go running if Tim Burton wanted us to!
“The only reason I went back is because Tim is such a legend, and we just happened to get along very well,” she admitted. “But even then I said, ‘Ah, no — I think I’m OK,’ a couple [more] times.”
But luckily for everyone but especially Jenna, the Netflix series was a smash hit!
