Sex Education is about to lose one of their favorite headliners!

Emma Mackey has seen an impressive growth in her career thanks to Sex Education. All thanks to the Neflix show Mackey’s career has seen her take on major roles in huge productions such as ‘Emily’ the Emily Bronte biopic, Agatha Christie’s Death on The Nile and her latest role in Barbie the movie that puts her head to head with her iconic lookalike Margot Robbie.

Sadly it looks like it’s the end of the line for Maeve and her gallivanting on Sex Education as she confirmed the news at the BAFTAs last night. While on the red carpet at the awards show she revealed that while she’s excited for season 5 she will not be returning saying: “Season 5? I’ve just finished the fourth one last week!” she told RadioTimes. “No, I don’t think I’ll be in season 5. I’ve said goodbye to Maeve.”

She previously spoke about how she plans on making Maeve take a step back during season 4 and not keep her in the spotlight: “It feels very familiar! And it’s a bit more sporadic because we have more characters. So there’s… I’m not in it as consistently,” she said ahead of filming Season 4. “But we’re in the middle of filming now, and I’m excited to be back. And yeah, I’m intrigued to know what’s going to happen – because I also don’t know. I’m also finding out as we go along, so it’ll be fun!”

It’ll definitely be bitter sweet to let go of a beloved and pivotal character of the show but as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.
