Get your 3D Glasses on and step into the world of Pandora. Avatar 2 way of the Water to describe the movie in a sentence or two would be “Spectacular movie experience when it’s Experienced in 3D”. James Cameron has done it again giving us a deep dive into the world of pandora quite literally if I may add. The movie takes continues from where we left off 13 years ago. But this time we explore the sea tribes as Jake puts the needs of his family which has expanded quite a bit from the first movie above the responsibilities of a chieftain.
The way of the water lets us explore the shallows and the depth of the oceans of pandora and the livelihood of the Navi who dwell in its borders. If you enter with the expectation of a boring family movie you are in for a wild ride because this movie is jam packed with action from start to finish with enough and more battles starting from aerial moving to terrain, then ending with an epic marine battle to end all battles. Not to mention his encounters with characters from the past who have come to haunt our protagonist as well.
In the second edition of the franchise, we have a fair share of new species just like the Ikrans (those Dragon-like creatures Navi’s ride upon) But unlike the first edition we get to experience much more interaction between the People in the tribes and creatures of the ocean which I see has a huge plus for the storyline and which gives me high hopes for the series to come.
The Major thing which I found a bit irritating was fact that the storyline has major similarities between the first part of the series. I felt that the screenplay could have gone in a different direction than how it was portrayed they were still dwelling on to the same set of characters has the first one beside a handful of new editions and secondary characters and I also felt that the sea tribes weren’t utilized to the maximum to drive the storyline forward instead they were just there in the background giving the movie an oceanic atmosphere.
The movie explores the Themes of family, expectations and of acceptance which I found very heartwarming, and it is nice to know that the next movie might be exploring similar themes.
Overall, the movie was a wonderful experience when watched in a big screen and with 3D Glasses on. Because the visual effects were beyond my expectations and surpassing the earlier installments by miles ahead. So instead of waiting for it to hit the home screen head on to the big screen with your family and friends and watch it on 3D because it is money well spent and trust me when I say this you will have an impressive time submerging into the big blue.
