February 2022: Lady Gaga’s dog walker Ryan Fischer was shot during a dog theft.

Fischer was caught in the middle of a shooting in Hollywood when he was walking the ‘Bad Romance’ singer’s three French Bulldogs. The armed robber had attacked him and shot him in the chest.

It was revealed in court that part of Fischer’s lung was removed due to irreparable damage, he was quoted saying that his life since the attack had been “changed forever”. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office called the attack "a cold-hearted violent act".

Fischer in a statement said “I suddenly found myself fighting with everything I had to protect those dogs from being stolen. But it wasn’t enough: I was beaten, strangled, shot and left to die, bleeding out on a sidewalk and gasping for my life.”

Jackson and one of four other accomplices took two of the dogs, Koji and Gustav, following the shooting. A third bulldog, Miss Asia, ran away and was later found by police.

The two stolen dogs were returned unharmed two days later after Gaga offered a $500,000 reward.

While the accused; James Howard Jackson pleaded no contest at attempted murder, the DA’s office said that “The plea agreement holds Mr Jackson accountable for perpetrating a cold-hearted violent act and provides justice for our victim,” He was sentenced to 21 years in prison.
