“it is the tiniest, and most insignificant that carry the hope of all men… Frodo and Sam, ring-bearer and servant, companion and friend, carry the hope of All Middle Earth” – The Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King.
And when we needed them the most they were here to help us too.
Over the weekend The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power premiered on Amazon Prime and garnered a collective 25million global viewers. While the initial reactions were really positive, there have been an increasing amount of hate comments online where people are complaining about the cast being mostly made up of People of Color.
To show support to the cast and crew of The Rings of Power, Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins) posted a photograph on Twitter with his old castmates Dominic Monaghan (Merry) Billy Boyd (Pippin), all wearing t-shirts with emoji-elf ears in different skin tones with the words “You are all welcome here” written above them.
Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee) also took to twitter to show his support by posting a selfie where he is wearing a cap with the same graphics.
