“Not when you’re black”

John Boyega who is widely known for staring in Marvel’s Black Panther & Star Wars spoke about how he believes there will never be a James Bond played by a person of Colors despite London born Idris Elba being called on for the role.  Boyega, 30, claims producer Barbara Broccoli will never cast a person of color for the role. 

When he was asked if he’d ever try his hand out at playing Bond he replied with “I’m sorry but I’m black – I don’t know how. When you’re black, I don’t know how that goes. 'You as a white man grew up in a society as a white man and that’s normal. That’s normal to you. Even the mention of a black Bond is like "Oh, okay". 

He continued with “I don’t necessarily believe that but if that’s what they’re doing then that is very surprising to me. As an actor, you kind of just stay out of that conversation. But if it’s for you then maybe. But if not then you just enjoy it in a movie theatre like everyone else.”
