Viola Davis takes on one of her biggest roles to date as General Nanisca of the Dahomey
Amazons and Nawi in which she leads an all-female army against their foes who threaten their
kingdom, ruin everything they have worked for, defiled their honour, and enslaved their people.
Woman King portray the real historical events that have since inspired fantasies such as Black
Panther. Just like in fiction, the real life women of King Ghezo’s army are skilled and deadly
agents of the state. The first trailer has received positive responses, especially in Africa, who
are glad their historical stories being told on a global scale. Woman King is expected to follow in 
suit the legacy left by Black Panther and do really well once released. The movie also stars
Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Adrienne Warren and Jayme Lawson and is
ready to hit theatres on September 16th 2022.
