This Past Wednesday RnB singer R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years of federal prison for
multiple charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. He is currently being held at Brooklyn’s
“Metropolitan Center”, a prison in New York and it has been reported that his lawyer is suing the
prison for putting him on suicide watch. Hi Attorney Jennifer Bonjean claims the prison did so
out of "purely punitive reasons" because he's a "high-profile inmate" she further said Kelly has
no thoughts of harming himself. "My partner and I spoke with Mr. Kelly following his
sentencing. He expressed that he was mentally fine, was behaving appropriately, and was eager
to pursue his appeal. He did express concerns that even though he was NOT suicidal,

(Metropolitan Detention Center) would place him on suicide watch," she reported to E!News.
and continued with "We are in the process of filing a complaint and an emergency rule to show
cause with the courts." She also added that she believes holding her client in confinement
without cause "is illegal and they will be held accountable for it".
