LOS ANGELES — James Corden said he will be withdrawing from his late-night CBS TV show one year from now, considering it a "great chance to continue on and see what else may be out there."Corden reported his choice during the taping of Thursday's The Late Show, which he started facilitating in 2015.
"Whenever I began this excursion, being only that was continuously going. Being an excursion, an adventure was going. I never saw it as my last objective, you know?" he said. "Also, I never believe that this show should outstay its welcome in any capacity. I generally need to cherish making it."Corden, who didn't offer subtleties on what course his profession could require straightaway, said the late-night show "has completely changed me. ... I am so pleased with what we've accomplished. It's been past my most stunning, most extravagant fantasies."
He'll stay with the show for one more year, he said, promising that it will "make a dramatic exit" and, he anticipated, with "such countless tears."In an explanation, CBS President and CEO George Cheeks praised Corden for taking "colossal imaginative and comedic swings," including the "Carpool Karaoke" recordings in which Corden and pop stars including Adele and Paul McCartney performed sing-alongs out and about.
