Benito Antonio Martnez Ocasio, better known by his stage as Bad Bunny, has been cast as the newest Marvel superhero in Sony Pictures' superhero lineup, and will star in the standalone comic book feature "El Muerto."On January 12, 2024, "El Muerto" will be released in theaters.

Ocasio will be the first Latino actor to star in a live-action Marvel film, as announced by Sony Motion Pictures Group president Sanford Panitch at CinemaCon, the annual conference of movie theater owners in Las Vegas.

"Bringing El Muerto to life is just wonderful... so exciting," the chart-topping rapper said, adding that he grew up a wrestling fan. El Muerto, also known as Juan-Carlos Estrada Sanchez in the comics, is a wrestler whose powers are passed down through the generations in the form of a mask (which grants him superhuman strength, according to Marvel's official site). El Muerto has fought Spider-Man in the past in comic books. Sony executives said on stage at CinemaCon that Ocasio will play an antihero on the cusp of acquiring his father's power.
