AND WORLDS NUMBER 1 DJ IS…

The public vote - powered by Trackitdown - is the biggest music poll of its kind in the world, with votes coming from over 170 countries.

This year's title takes the trance DJ, Armin van Buuren to a record-breaking five wins has been voted the world's number one DJ.

The Dutchman saw off competition from serial hit maker David Guetta to be awarded the top spot in DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs Poll Awards 2012.

DJ Mag also announced that this year's highest climber in the standings was Porter Robinson and that the highest new entry went to Nicky Romero. Tiesto rose one position to claim the second place spot and last year's highest new entry - and this year's highest placed dubstep DJ - Skrillex, came in at number ten.

New York's Danny Tenaglia was also entered into the inaugural Hall of Fame, and was given his award by film and television star Idris Elba.

Following his acceptance speech, van Buuren played a set for the crowd of 4,000 attendees. He then flew to London for the UK edition of the Top 100 DJs party at The Gallery at the Ministry of Sound, joining a lineup featuring Markus Schulz, Sean Tyas and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.

Ministry of Sound plans to release the official DJ Mag Top 100 DJs 2CD album, featuring nominees and winners, on Monday (October 22).
