COLE SPROUSE SAYS RIVERDALE CAST IS READY FOR THE SHOW TO END

Cole Sprouse is ready to pack up the typewriter, hang up Jughead Jones' iconic crowned beanie, and leave Riverdale. The 29-year-old actor tells GQ that the main ensemble of characters should put their crime-fighting, bear-fighting, ritual-sacrificing, speakeasy-running, and — *checks notes* – superpowered exploits on hold. Cole revealed that he and "most" of his castmates are ready to "wrap it up with a bow" after six seasons on the CW show. Since the show's debut in 2017, we've seen Jughead, Archie, Betty, Veronica, Cheryl, and the rest of the Riverdale gang face everything from cults to a deadly board game to an alternate universe; the plot has veered away from the first season's narrative, which was more of a "sleepy small town with a dark secret" show than a "our main character fight bears and has superpowers" show.

However, according to Cole, the actors has little say in what happens on set. "I'm not a part of [Riverdale's] creative team." In the interview, Cole stated, "I literally have no creative control." "We show there, typically the day of the shoot, and we're told to shoot." He also said that he was approached to helm one episode but turned it down.

Lili Reinhart, Cole's costar and former lover, has also hinted towards the end of Riverdale. "This is not the final season of Riverdale — well, it may be," Lili stated during an Instagram Live in late 2021, throughout the show's sixth season. I'm not sure. We're aiming for a seventh season... and then it'll most likely be the final one." The CW, on the other hand, hasn't released any official information on the show's possible demise.
