NEW YORK - Dolly Parton is attempting to resurrect her career as a movie star with the help of her pal Reese Witherspoon.

Parton is collaborating with Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine media firm on a film adaptation of the best-selling novel "Run, Rose Run," which she co-wrote with James Patterson. The Nashville-based book, which was released in early March, is about a friendship between an aspiring country singer and a retired country superstar, a character that Parton has expressed interest in playing in a film.
