Following the release of her fifth studio album, Thank U, Next, Ariana Grande has been smashing records left and right, and she now has a social media record as well.According to Billboard, the 25-year-old singer has 146,311,467 followers on Instagram, surpassing Selena Gomez (146,274,798) as the most followed female on the social media network.

They are still still trailing soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, who has 155,894,992 Instagram followers and passed Gomez in October.Grande has over 13 million followers, which has helped her dethrone Gomez in just four months.Her most recent albums, Sweetener (issued in August 2018) and Thank U, Next (released in February 2019), have attracted a large number of fans.

With the start of her Sweetener/Thank U, Next tour in March, she has the opportunity to create even more distance between herself and Gomez. While Grande has been active on Instagram, with two posts and six Instagram stories in the last 24 hours, Gomez has been noticeably absent.
