THE WEEKND DROPS 'ECHOES OF SILENCE' VIDEO TO CELEBRATE THE MIXTAPE'S 10TH ANNIVERSARY!

The Weeknd released a futuristic new music video for his 2011 song "Echoes of Silence" on Tuesday (Dec. 21). The CGI graphic depicts robots in a post-apocalyptic future, created by Kurando Furuya and creatively directed by well-known Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama. The robots dance and interact throughout the film, even reenacting Michelangelo's Creation of Adam. The Weeknd's third mixtape featured the song as the title track, which was released on December 21, 2011.

In the aftermath of his huge hit "Blinding Lights" being the new top Billboard Hot 100 single of all time, Billboard ranked the recent cover star at No. 5 on our list of the Greatest Pop Stars of 2021 on Dec. 14. The Weeknd's long-awaited follow-up to 2020's After Hours is set to drop next year. The Weeknd's first three tapes—House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence—are now available to stream in their "original" form on streaming sites.
