Trevor Noah, the presenter of The Daily Show, is suing a New York City hospital and a doctor for a botched surgery in 2020. Noah, 37, said the procedure at the Hospital for Special Surgery left him with "permanent, severe, and painful" disabilities. The comedian's claims have been dismissed by the hospital as "meritless."
According to legal records acquired by PEOPLE, Noah filed a lawsuit against the hospital and Dr. Riley J. Williams III last month. The Grammy Awards host claimed his surgery happened on Nov. 23, 2020, and he was a patient between Aug. 25, 2020, and Dec. 17, 2020. Noah's court records stated that the defendants were "negligent and reckless in failing to treat and care for [him] in a thoughtful and professional manner." Williams and the hospital were also accused of not following "authorized methods in widespread usage in the care and treatment," according to him.
