"Cheugy" appears to be quite a mouthful. Billie Eilish, a Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, and Jason Kelce, a Philadelphia Eagles center, have had their names misspelled by commentators. And almost everyone has a hard time pronouncing "omicron."
The U.S. Captioning Company, which captions and subtitles real-time events on TV and in courtrooms, published a list of the most mispronounced words this year. The list, which was announced on Tuesday, reveals the words that were the most difficult for newsreaders and television personalities to pronounce this year. According to The Guardian, Eilish's name – especially the term 'Eilish' – is one of the most mispronounced words of the year, with 'Dogecoin,' 'Yassify,' 'Cheugy,' 'Glasgow,' and the name of the newest COVID-19 variation, 'Omicron.'
In 2022, Eilish will embark on a world tour in support of her album 'Happier Than Ever,' which recently received a Grammy nomination for Album Of The Year. She'll be performing across North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, with six gigs scheduled at London's O2.
