After deciding to have a kid on her own, Jessie J had a miscarriage. In an Instagram post released on Wednesday, the 33-year-old artist broke the news. Jessie J announced the news just hours before she was scheduled to perform in Los Angeles.

"I decided to start a family on my own. Because it's everything I've ever desired, and life is brief, "she said. "Getting pregnant was a miracle in and of itself, and it's an experience I'll never forget and know I'll repeat. I'm still reeling from the news, and the sadness is overpowering. But I know I'm strong, and I'm confident I'll be fine." She continued, "I also know that millions of women around the world have experienced similar suffering, if not worse. I feel a sense of belonging to both those I know and those I don't. It's the world's loneliest sensation."
