Nicole Kidman, who plays Lucille Ball in the upcoming comedy Being the Ricardos, was reportedly nervous about the part. For those unfamiliar, Being the Ricardos follows Ball and her first husband, Desi Arnaz, as they film I Love Lucy; written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, a breakthrough television series, over a week.
In an interview with Variety, Kidman discusses her fear of impersonating the legendary entertainer, which she felt while filming. She reveals that she took the role after reading Sorkin's screenplay and falling in love with the character, wanting to pay tribute to a global pioneer for women and that her nerves nearly crushed her a month before filming started. "About a month prior, I had huge trepidation, and Aaron had to get on the phone and send me letters saying, 'You've got this,'" Kidman told Variety.
