Ginger Labs, the creators of Notability, said today that their popular note-taking software will no longer compel current users to upgrade to a subscription plan. This announcement comes only two days after the developer revealed a new subscription plan in which current app owners will be compelled to start a $14.99 per month membership by November 1st, 2022 if they wanted to keep the same features.

Anyone who purchased Notability before November 1st, 2021, will have lifetime access to all existing features and any content they previously purchased in the app.

This means that existing paid customers will not be required to pay for the new subscription plan after upgrading to version 11.0. They also keep access to capabilities that new free-tier users would lose, such as iCloud sync, unrestricted editing, and features purchased through the Notability store.

Many long-time members have expressed their displeasure with the new subscription arrangement, prompting these quick revisions. While the corporation admitted its error and apologized profusely to its customers in a blog post.
