The show is advertised as a revamped take on Nickelodeon's iconic animation brand and is now overseen by showrunner Albert Kim. Kim will play Fire Lord Ozai, the viciously driven king of the Fire Nation who expects everyone, especially his teen son, Prince Zuko, to live up to his unrealistic expectations. Ozai's desire to conquer and unite the world under firebender authority stems from his belief that it is his destiny to finish a war begun by his forefathers.

Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Zuko are among the previously revealed cast members.
