BRENDAN FRASER TO PLAY VILLAIN IN BATGIRL MOVIE!

Brendan Fraser's comeback now includes two appearances in DC Comics. In the next HBO Max Batgirl film, starring Leslie Grace as the titular character, the actor has been cast as Firefly, a longstanding Barman villain who enjoys setting things on fire. In the HBO Max series Doom Patrol, Fraser also voices another DC Comics character, the hero Robotman. In 2022, Batgirl will be released exclusively on HBO Max.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah of Bad Boys For Life will direct Batgirl, with a story by Christina Hodson, who has previously worked on Birds of Prey, The Flash, and Bumblebee. Kristin Burr, who has worked on films including Cruella de Vil and Christopher Robin, will direct. Commissioner Jim Gordon is anticipated to be played by J.K. Simmons, who previously appeared in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Jacob Scipio, who starred in Bad Boys For Life, has an unspecified part in the film. Deadline broke the news of Fraser's appointment as Firefly.

The plot of the film is yet to be revealed. Batgirl was first debuted in 1961 as Betty Kane, but in 1967, Gordon's daughter, Barbara Gordon, took up the role. Barbara is the most well-known Batgirl, but other characters like Helena Bertinelli, Cassandra Cain, and Stephanie Brown have also assumed the role.
