Acer's "antimicrobial" laptops have been available for a while, but during the COVID-19 outbreak, they became extremely crucial.
The business introduced three new antimicrobial PCs: a laptop, a two-in-one, and a tablet.
Antimicrobials are substances that are capable of "killing or preventing the growth of microorganisms, particularly harmful bacteria."
That is, it attacks disease-causing organisms that aren't visible.
Acer states that its Antimicrobial 360 Design feature, as it is known, combats germs in two ways.
First, a silver-ion agent is applied to high-touch surfaces such as the chassis's outside and hinge, the keyboard, the touchpad, and the fingerprint reader. The capacity of silver ions to combat germs has been studied for years. "They can quickly adsorb to most biomolecules (DNA, membrane protein, enzymes, or intracellular cofactors) in bacteria to inactivate their functions," according to a more recent paper published de ACS Applied Bio Materials.
