Christopher Lloyd and Jaeden Martell star as the titular cartoon couple in a new live-action clip for Rick and Morty. The animated series was, ironically, inspired by Back to the Future, with its two main characters being modeled after Doc Brown and Marty McFly. Lloyd's return to live-action Rick is made all the more humorous by the presence of It star Martell as his shy grandson Morty. 

One of Rick's experiments has gone awry once more. The teaser starts with his familiar portal opening up in the real world, with live-action Rick and Morty strolling out a few moments later. The space is a replica of Rick's lab from the show, as fans will notice. Lloyd's Rick says, "Morty, we're home," complete with the character's distinctive belch midway through his thought. Morty, understandably distressed, follows up with his iconic reply, "Oh, jeez."

Adult Swim hasn't said much else about the short, which appears to be a promotional tool for the show's forthcoming season 5 finale. It's unknown whether or not there will be further clips with Lloyd and Martell as the characters, or if it will play a role in the Rick and Morty series. That could depend on how well the new footage is received by fans, as it has already gone viral on social media shortly after its release.
