Shang-Chi, played by Simu Liu, is the newest Avenger, according to Marvel Studios. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the most recent installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is currently in theaters. Shang-Chi is introduced as "Marvel's new Avenger" in a new television spot issued by Marvel to promote the film, making his induction in the renowned superhero team official.

 "In terms of what's next, I know what's on my mind is the same as what's on everybody else's mind. And hopefully, there's an Avengers in the future, somewhere," Liu, who makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Shang-Chi, previously revealed to sources that an Avengers 5 sequel is in the works.

We may assume Avengers 5 will happen eventually, but it won't be for a long time. To work as well as Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios will need time to construct a new crew for the next major crossover, and bringing Shang-Chi in to star in his solo film is a strong start.
