Nicki Minaj, Young Thug, Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X, Stevie Nicks, and Stevie Wonder are among the performers on Elton John's new album, which features collaborations with musicians from different eras and genres.

The new album will be titled The Lockdown Sessions, featuring a selection of 16 songs in which John teams up with artists ranging from Dua Lipa to the late Glen Campbell. The project sparked following Elton John’s decision to pause his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in March 2020, and his talk show Rocket Hour, where he met many of the artists engaged in the project, helped bring some colorful talent to the table.

The music was recorded with the artists separated from one another, while in others, safety precautions were used. It pushed John into a new musical area, diving into hip-hop, country, and electronic dance music, often in the same song, according to John. He stated, “I realized there was something weirdly familiar about working like this…I worked as a session musician. Working with different artists during lockdown reminded me of that. I’d come full circle: I was a session musician again. And it was still a blast.”

The new album will be released on October 22, 2021!
