HERATH MUDIYANSELAGE WINS GOLD FOR PARALYMPICS!

Herath Dinesh Priyan won the Gold Medal while he simultaneously established a World record in the Javelin Throw event and scored a distance of 67.79m at the Paralympic Games 2020 held in Tokyo.

Dinesh Priyan, aged 35 and residing in Anuradhapura recorded his personal best on the very first attempt and he set the world record on his second attempt.

Upon receiving his world record and gold medal, he was given a Sri Lankan flag and instead of running around with it right away he spreads it out on the track and kneels in front of it, bowing his head to the ground.

He sustained injuries on the 16th of December 2008 when he was fighting against LTTE terrorists in Kilinochchi area. Enlisted to the army on the 18th of march 2004 as a recruit and completed basic training at Gajaba Regiment at Saliyapura.
