Hit TV show Game of Thrones (2019) was recorded as one of the most disappointing finales to ever have aired, despite having the biggest ramp-ups in TV history. Although the producers claimed to have had their differences with the production companies, the fans of the long-running show were not so forgiving.

As the growing franchise branches out to spin-offs and other productions such as House of the Dragon (2022), creator George R.R. Martin has been hard at work, looking to complete his series of books that was adapted for on-screen use. As fans began to crave more of this fantasy realm, the studios had no choice but to move ahead and premiere the next season before the release of the books, hence straying from a still-rooting storyline.

Following the series finale, Martin expressed his regret on not finishing his books on time. “I had a five-book head-start…” he said, “I never thought they would catch up with me, but they did.”

In hopes of gaining the faith of his fans back, Martin announced the saga’s final book, A Dream Of Spring will pursue plot lines independent from the TV adaptation and include a different ending.
