Grammy Award-winning Bruno Mars is the first artist to be granted diamond certification for 5 singles by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The RIAA announced the achievement on Saturday through a press release and a tweet that congratulated the 35-year-old singer-songwriter.

Bruno Mars’ diamond certification totaled to 5 when his single “When I Was Your Man” reached 10 million certification units (streams and sales) and “When I Was Your Man” reached 11 million.

Before this, “Just the Way You Are” reached 12 times multi-platinum (12 million certification units), “Uptown Funk!” received 11 times multi-platinum and “Grenade” had 10 times multi-platinum.

The chairman and CEO of RIAA Mitch Glazier congratulated the star on his “extraordinary” achievement, since “Fewer than 60 Diamond Single Awards have ever been awarded – and Bruno now has 5 of them!”

Mars responded to the achievement and celebrated with a tweet to his fans, thanking them for their love and support.
