West side story was one of the most romantic musicals there was and now, Steven Spielberg is wondering if you are ready for a new version of the iconic musical ‘West Side Story”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemics prevalence, like many other movies that were set to come out, the release was pushed back an entire year, the brand-new movie adaptation of West Side Story launched its first ever trailer at the 2021 Oscars ceremony. 

The new trailer features the esteemed song, “somewhere” and also, introduces the cast for the movie which includes Ansel Elgort who plays Tony, Rachel Zegler who plays Maria and more actors that you will definitely be excited to see in the film!

Rachel Zegler was also only 17 years old and still attending high school when she bagged the role of Maria, and what’s more is that, apart from the fact that she was ecstatic about playing Maria, she said that West Side Story was the very first musical she has seen with a lead character that is a Latina! 

In addition to that, Rita Moreno who was cast as Anita in the 1961 version of West Side Story is making her comeback in the new version of the film and will also be working as the executive producer!

West Side Story will hit theatres on the 10^th of December 2021 rather than its initial release date which was set for the 18^th of December 2020!
