The Ingenuity team situated at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, confirmed the flight’s success as the data was relayed through NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover.

The small rotorcraft, equipped with a navigation camera, was able to track the ground along it’s trajectory and hover for as long as 30 seconds before landing back down. To celebrate the noteworthy feat the helicopter captured the momentous occasion as it cast a shadow on the planet’s surface while airborne.
