The Weeknd is giving back in a big way as he is donating 1 million dollars towards hunger relief in Ethiopia!

Ethiopia is going through a civil conflict at the moment and innocent civilians are getting the shorter end of the stick for it. Thus, in aid of these people, the money he’s providing is going to supply two million meals to those in need of food.  

The Weeknd went on to Instagram to share his feelings about the situation. He said that his heart is breaking for the innocent people including small children and the elderly as well - being displaced after all the destruction.

 He further added that he will in fact be donating 1 million dollars towards said hunger relief campaign.

This crisis touched The Weeknd  in a special way as he is the child to two Ethiopian immigrant parents even though he was born and raised in Canada!

This isn’t the first time that The Weeknd has taken it upon himself to extend a helping hand towards those in need. During the covid 19 pandemic he donated 1 million dollars to those effected, he even donated 300 thousand dollars to the victims of the Beirut Lebanon explosion.

Big ups to The Weeknd for giving back to the community!
