Microsoft's acquisition of Zenimax Media, the parent company of game developer Bethesda, is approaching the finish line. The European Commission announced on its website that it had ratified the agreement under the EU Merger Regulation. The commission said in a statement that it had "Concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given the combined entity's limited market position upstream and the presence of strong downstream competitors in the distribution of video games."  

Monday's update follows the US Securities and Exchange Commission's approval of the deal on March 4.
