Chris Hemsworth's action thriller film Extraction 2, a sequel to the 2020 Netflix hit is about to start out filming this fall. The film may be the streamer's most-watched original movie ever. Directed by Sam Hargrave and produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, Extraction starred Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a mercenary and former army veteran who is tasked with traveling to Bangladesh to guard the son of a criminal mafia lord from his father's rival. The film is taken from the graphic novel Ciudad, which was co-written by Anthony and Joe Russo with Ande Parks, and illustrated by Fernando León González.
The movie was a huge hit with viewers, particularly for its intense 12-minute action sequence that was filmed to seem sort of a single, uncut shot. A few weeks after the first movie's release, a sequel was announced, with Joe Russo returning to write down the script. Back in November, Joe Russo stated that the script was within the works which he, Hemsworth, and Netflix were ready for the film to start production sometime in 2021.
However, with filming set to start this fall, Extraction 2 will probably not see a release until 2022.
