WhatsApp was built on a simple idea: what you share with your friends and family stays between you. But now, WhatsApp has announced that there’s going to be a 3 month delay in implementing a new privacy policy and millions of users facing major setbacks as they have to move from the platform to competitors such as Signal and Telegram.

The Facebook-owned company said the policy change was originally scheduled to take effect on February 8. This makes it clear that updating data sharing with Facebook regarding personal conversations or other profile information will not affect you, and that a user will only address business chats when interacting with a company's customer service site via WhatsApp.

"We've heard from so many people how much confusion there is around our recent update. There''s been a lot of misinformation causing concern and we want to help everyone understand our principles and the facts," Whatsapp said in a company blog.
